Scottish Arts opportunity for Safesell
24/04/06
Liverpools own music download company SafeSell is in discussion
with The Scottish Arts Council to develop new sales opportunities
for up and coming and more established Scottish Musicians and
Labels that can earn a better living from their music creations.
SafeSell was set up to exploit a technology which they developed
to protect the music industry from piracy and to bring more revenue
directly for music creators. It uses digital rights management
so all downloads are legal. Brian Pond Sales and Marketing Director
said SafeSell will be the software that launches thousands
of mini I-tunes.
SafeSell is a unique piece of software offering artists the opportunity
to earn money directly by selling music files from their own website.
This model has been adopted by forward thinking artists such as
Judy Tzuke and Dean Friedman who now set the price of their music
sales. Liverpool Label Robot Records has signed up to use SafeSell.
To find out how it works you can click on the website of Judy
Tzuke (www.tzuke.com).
The company employs 5 people in its Liverpool Head Office in addition
to distribution outlets in Australia and United States.
The number of employees is expected to double or triple soon.
Brian Pond said We have been offered excellent support and
advice at every level of the business by Liverpool Seed Fund and
Liverpool Ventures. If every Venture fund was as positive then
less start-ups would fail.
They have just returned from a successful trip to the South by
Southwest Festival in Austen Texas. American artists and Labels
are very impressed and LA Label Longlivecrimerecords
and "Top Kat" records are shortly to launch there download
services using the SafeSell technology.
