LIVERPOOL E-LEARNING
SERVICE PROVIDER LANDS CONTRACT WITH KNOWSLEY SCHOOLS
20/01/06
Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council has signed a years
subscription agreement with Liverpool based Taecanet Ltd for their
web based Springboard e-learning service for all its 78 primary
and secondary schools.
Taecanet Springboard features content from the Internet gathered
together by expert teachers in subjects for key stages 2 and 3,
such as geography, science and history. The content is packaged
into learning journeys providing teachers with a ready-made e-learning
service for school or home use.
The service is easy to use for both teachers and pupils, building
confidence and delivering results from the increased use of ICT
across the national curriculum. More than 2000 individual learning
journeys have already been created and, together with online assessment,
this will sharpen the knowledge of pupils in key subjects, where
they can see topics come to life on the Internet.
"We are delighted that Knowsley MBC has chosen Taecanet to
further support the development of e-learning in Knowsley schools
and City Learning Centres, this is a superb endorsement for the
Taecanet concept and we look forward to working with Knowsley
in 2006 and beyond," says David Holden, Taecanets marketing
director. "We are also indebted to film producer Lord Puttnam
whose support and encouragement of the Taecanet concept has further
boosted our confidence.
"Our service is available to schools and local education
authorities to buy on subscription, and we hope that it will help
change the way teachers teach and pupils learn in the future,"
he adds. "In particular we believe that the use of Taecanet
by both secondary schools and clusters of their feeder primary
schools will be highly effective in helping address the widespread
performance problems associated with transition from primary to
secondary education."
Taecanet will be demonstrating their Springboard service to visitors
from Knowsley and elsewhere at their stand X101 at the BETT Show
in the National Hall, Olympia in London.
